Get into the spirit of this year’s El Sobrante Stroll Theme – It’s Out of This World – find out about the life in outer space.

Get ready for the El Sobrante Stroll with a talk from two humans who have studied life possibilities, and realities , in outer space.

Two 20-30 minute talks, with time for questions and discussion.

Speaker: Chuck Goodman

Title of Talk: “Is Anybody Out There?”

Chuck Goodman, an avid amateur astronomer, will present a talk on the Drake Equation, a concept used by astronomers to estimate the probabilities of finding life, and intelligent life in the universe.

Speaker: Thomas Lang

Title of Talk: “So You Want to Go to Mars?”

Thomas Lang is a retired biomedical researcher at UCSF who collaborated with NASA to study how astronauts lose bone in long-duration spaceflights. He will talk about the health risks astronauts will face on a journey to Mars and back.
